Delicious Ginataang Kuhol o Suso or π Snail Cooked in Creamy, Thick Coconut Milk
I have fond memories of these snails cooked in coconut milk ππππ♥️
Our Dad used to bring us to "Kamay Kainan" when we were kids and one of the complimentary food offered in that restaurant is "ginataang kuhol" or "snails cooked in coconut milk". Yummy! π

I remember that very moment when I first ate snails ππ it was an adventure! π Simply because I know it's a snail! π You know how kids are π
We thought snails are small, cute thingy animals that you could easily find everywhere. Most of us kids even play with them as if they were automated toys that didn't need batteries.
Just look at the one in the picture below π

Isn't he a cutie? That snail in the picture shown above πππ
At first, I didn't know how to eat the snails. Honestly, I was in shock. I asked Daddy why they were serving such snails in an expensive restaurant. It's one of those that are easily found by the roadside where I pass by going home from school. I didn't know at that time that it was one of those famous delicacies of our country.
Dad happily explained everything to me and taught me how to eat them. Daddy started demonstrating how to get the snails out of the shell, and then eat them. I watched my Daddy show me how to eat the snailsπ Of course π you'd first get the snail out of its shell using the provided hygienic toothpicks by the restaurant. Then, eat the chewy body of the snail up π
I was at first hesitant thinking the snail π would still be alive and move inside my tummy when I eat it. π So, as I took it out of its shell π I made sure that the π little creature is already dead ππ€£ππ How?π By either cutting it into small pieces or smashing it with my fork and spoon π΄π½️πππ π Then thought to myself, π "For sure it's already 100% dead π Poor π snail!" ππ Then put it into my mouth and chew it π
I told Dad, "It's yummy, Daddy!" π And Dad would tell me, "I told you it is! Go get some more. They're going to refill the bowl of it anyway. " π They do refill all the complimentary food served on our table π
"KAMAY KAINAN" was one of those famous restaurants in those days π and it's always full of people and families π You even have to wait in long lines before they could accommodate you π It's also one of the restaurants that made the famous "singing cooks and waiters or waitress popular. The cooks, the waiters, and the waitresses serenade you by your table as you enjoy a simple indulgence on their excellently cooked Filipino food.π They go singing from one table to the other. They're singing songs requested by the people who dine there π
I could never forget the wonderful experience they provided, the exquisite quality of their delicious food and service plus their generosity in their servings of their complimentary food and main dishes. π
I don't know if there are restaurants nowadays that offer what they offered customers years ago π ♥️
I love "KAMAY KAINAN" ♥️ It's one of the restaurants that bring back beautiful and happy memories of my childhood days ♥️π Precious moments I've had with my beloved family ♥️
